LOOSE END IN THE FABRIC, A FABRIC DEFECT, A WEAVING DEFECT, CAUSES, AND REMEDIES

LOOSE END IN THE FABRIC, A FABRIC DEFECT, A WEAVING DEFECT, CAUSES, AND REMEDIES:

Loose end:  As the defect name expresses, “the individual warp end having low tension in comparison of other ends is called loose end”. A loose end appears on the fabric surface prominently. It can be felt by touching the fabric surface where it appears. There are so many reasons which are directly or indirectly responsible for this defect.
The major cause of loose end is the tension of individual warp end. If the tension of an individual end is wrapped on the warp with lower tension, then this individual end appears in the form of a loose end. Sometimes, short ends problem is created in the weaver’s beam. When the warp beam unwinds during weaving, the tension of the coming short end starts to vary before stopping the loom due to warp break stop. The loom takes a few minutes to be stopped. Fabric weaving continues with low tension of individual warp end. This tension variation in the individual end results in the form of a loose end. When an individual end becomes short, the weaver replaces it by extra end using an extra cone. This extra end does not have enough tension and appears as a loose end.  Please note, Weaver should not use this wrong practice. The weaver should always use extra ends of the beam to replace a short end. If there is no extra end in the warp beam, the short end should always be replaced with the end the nearest to selvedge and the extra end of the cone should be used near the selvedge.
The warping creel tension on every end should keep equal. Extra care should be taken because the dead weight tension washers are fallen down during the warping process.
