BEATING MOTION ( PRIMARY LOOM MOTION)

BEATING MOTION ( A PRIMARY LOOM MOTION) :

The beating motion is a primary loom motion. It is also an essential loom motion. It comes after completion of picking motion. The main objective of beating motion is to push the inserted pick till it reaches to the fell of the cloth position. The beating motion in the loom is performed by a reed.
What is a fell of the coth position? In simple way the last inserted pick after beating is called fell of the cloth position. Actually the fell of the cloth is a maximum forward position of the reed. The reed can not moove ahead this position. When reed beats the pick, it pushes the pick to the maximum forward reed position and again stats backward movement.

There are many types of beating mechanisms used in weaving.

Frame weaving - hand beating
Handloom weaving - hand beating
Power loom - crank shaft beating
Modern looms - cam drive and crank drive beating
