Yarn doubling process:
The process of grouping( combining) two or more individual yarns together and then twisting of these combined yarns is called the yarn doubling process.
Objectives of yarn doubling process:
the main objectives of the yarn doubling process are given below:
1 - To improve the tensile strength of the yarn.
2 - To increase the softness of the yarn
3 - To reduce the hairiness of the yarn.
4 - To improve the moisture absorbing capability of the yarn.
5 - To cut the sizing process during weaving.
6 - To improve the evenness of the yarn.
Types of yarn doubling process:
1 - ring doubling machine
2 - two for one twisting machine:
Ring doubling process:
ring doubling process is one stage process. two or more yarn packages are twisted together. the twisting system is the same as the ring frame.
Two for one twister machine:
this is a two-stage process. in the first stage, two or more individual yarns are grouped or combine together with the help of a parallel yarn winding machine. now a definite amount of twist is inserted into the yarn.

In the parallel winding process, two or more plied untwisted yarn is obtained. There are two or more cone holders are used to mount the yarn packages on the machine creel. The creel is fitted at the bottom part of this machine. An individual yarn tensioning device is used to provide sufficient tension to the yarn. This is very important the yarn tension of all ends should be equal to each other. In this machine, the yarn break stop sensor is used for each end. This yarn break sensor helps to stop the particular winding head where yarn breakage takes place. All ends get combined together after passing through yarn break sensors. now grouped yarn strand goes over the winding drum. this winding drum winds the yarn on the yarn package. The yarn is wound on cheese in parallel winding for two for one twister machine.
In this yarn twisting method, the twist is imparted to the parallel double yarn with whelp of a hollow spindle rotating at a very high speed. The parallel yarn wound on cheese is used in two for one twister machine. The yarn package is placed inside the drum or a pot. The package is kept over the plate which remains stationary. A hollow tube is fitted in this drum or pot. This hollow tube is connected to a spindle rotor. The spindle rotor is connected to the spindle drive. The hollow tube pass-through the paper tube of cheese. The height of a hollow tube is more than a paper tube. The yarn first enters into a hollow tube through the yarn entry hole. The yarn entry hole is situated near the top of a hollow tube. The yarn comes out from the yarn exit hole situated at the bottom of a hollow tube. Now, this yarn passes through a rotating yarn guide. Next, this yarn passes between take-up rollers nip. Finally, yarn is would on the cone by drum winding system.
As the spindle rotor receives angular motion, the hollow tube attached with the spindle rotor starts to rotate at a very high speed. Each rotation of hollow tube inset one turn of twist into yarn. As yarn passes through the rotating yarn guide another turn of twist gets inserted into the yarn. The Take-up roller pulls the yarn simultaneously. Next, the winding system winds the yarn on a cone or cheese. When the yarn passes through a rotating yarn guide at a very high speed, balloon formation takes place. The yarn separators are used to entangle the yarn with side spindle yarn.
In this machine, two turns of twist are inserted into the yarn in one revolution of a hollow tube. The productivity of this machine is very high. Improved quality also results in this process.
